Responsibilities

The Planning and Development Department is composed of three Divisions: the Planning Division, the Building Division, and the Business Licensing Division. Each division is designed to ensure the efficient use of land within the City and to provide its residents with a safe, livable, functional, and prosperous community.

Building Division

The Building Division is responsible for the areas of plan review and construction inspection. Construction inspection enforces the minimum standards adopted by the Board of Aldermen for construction inside the city limits of Branson. These standards regulate construction from a public safety, health, and welfare aspect. They also work to secure safety to life and property from all hazards incident to the occupancy of building structures or premises.

Planning Division

The Planning Division The Planning Division is responsible for helping the community to implement and update its Community Plan 2030. In doing so, they assist community members with their requests for annexation, zoning, special uses, special events, and any other request needing to go before the Board of Aldermen, Planning Commission or Board of Adjustment.

Business Licensing Division

The Business Licensing Division is responsible for all businesses in Branson which includes merchant business licenses, contractors licenses, liquor licensing, and various permits and fees.
