Public Hearing Notice for CDBG-Mitigation and CDBG-Long Term Recovery programs

Branson Logo City of Branson - NEWSFLASH

The City of Branson will hold a public hearing on October 27, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 110 W Maddux, Branson, MO 65616 to discuss the city's submission of an application for the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s CDBG-Disaster Recovery Infrastructure program. The city needs as much local participation as possible in order to reflect the true desires of the community as a whole, as well as the comments relating to the proposed project application.

The State has established a maximum application request for each funding category. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, housing rehabilitation, and others allowed by law. At least 51% of the funds must be used to benefit low-and-moderate income persons. No displacement of persons will be proposed.

The city is proposing to construct the following public infrastructure:

  • Public streets extending from Gretna Rd, designed and constructed per the City of Branson’s design criteria for local streets and consist of asphalt pavement with concrete curb and gutter to control stormwater runoff;
  • Storm sewer improvements to direct stormwater runoff to a proposed detention pond;
  • Evaluation of a mid-block pedestrian crossing;
  • An 8” public water main extension with 3 fire hydrants; and
  • An 8” gravity sewer main extension with manholes.

These improvements are intended to support a local non-profit in the construction of 48 affordable housing units on the property, along with supportive services, such as technical skills training and community centers.

The area is located on an unnumbered parcel generally at 330 Gretna Rd, Branson, MO 65616; the area is bounded by forest to the east and north, America’s Best Value Inn & Suites to the west, and the Gateway Branson Church to the south. The total project cost is estimated at $6,690,150. The city proposes to contribute $1,965,000 under CDBG-Disaster Recovery Infrastructure grant funds, with $2,275,150 in local cash funds provided by the non-profit partner, and $2,450,000 in private cash funds. The project, if funded, will benefit 100% low/moderate income persons under CDBG’s Limited Clientele LMI National Objective. All citizens, including those in the project area, are encouraged to attend the public hearing in order to comment on the proposed activities.

For more information on the proposed project, contact Brandon Jenson at (417)836-6973.
