Assistant Police Chief Steve Dalton will be retiring from the City of Branson after more than 23 years of service to the city’s Police Department. His official last day is February 24th. A community reception was held in his honor at Branson City Hall, on February 17th.
Chief Crutcher thanked Steve for his contributions to the department over the years and for his support since arriving as Chief. “Steve has certainly been instrumental in assisting me over the past 6 months. I want to thank him personally for his support, and wish him the best of luck as he pursues other career opportunities”.
Steve said that he has “enjoyed his time at the Branson Police Department and serving the citizens of Branson. I have learned a lot over the past 23 years and it has been a great experience working with the dedicated employees. It has truly been an honor to serve the City of Branson”.
Steve began his law enforcement career with the Police Department in September 1988 as the rank of patrolman. As his career progressed he was awarded increasing responsibility and promotions while working as a patrol officer, until 1994 when he was assigned to working as a Sergeant in Criminal Investigations.
In 1999 Steve was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant over Special Operations. In 2002 Steve would be assigned to work with the COMET Drug Task Force as an undercover officer.
In 2004, Steve was selected as the Officer in Charge of the Drug Task Force, while under his direction COMET Drug Task Force was recognized for Outstanding Cooperation & Performance In Law Enforcement in Sioux Falls, South Dakota by MOCIC (Midwest Organized Crime Information Center) in September 2004.
In 2005 COMET was selected as the Drug Unit of the year in the state of Missouri by the Missouri Narcotics Officers Association.
Steve was certified as an expert witness in sales and manufacturing of Methamphetamine for Federal Court by the US Attorney’s office.
Steve has been involved in numerous investigations with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Secret Service, United States Marshall’s and numerous other agencies throughout the United States during his 23+ years in law enforcement.
Steve has served as the Branson Assistant Chief of Police since 2006, where he has overseen the operations of the Branson Police Department.
Steve serves on the Board of Directors for the Taney County Ambulance District and is currently on the Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Club of the Ozarks, as well as serving as an Elder in his church (Sanctuary of Hope) since 2008.
