Roger Clark was named the February 2012 Employee of the month. Roger is the Project Manager for the Engineering Department, and was lauded for his recent work in the expansion of the City Clerk and Courts Office. He was able to effectively balance the schedule of the contractors with the need for confidentiality in handling Court documents, as well as work around the schedules of the employees. CONSENT AGENDA - SECOND READING AND FINAL PASSAGE BILLS
Street Name Change of Long Street and Branson Landing Boulevard
A bill was approved on final reading, renaming a portion of Branson Landing Boulevard to “Long Street”. This change returns the name to this section, which was known as “Long Street” prior to the construction of Branson Landing Boulevard in 2007.
Change to Name of City Department
A bill was approved on final reading, amending the Branson Municipal Code to change the name of the Personnel Department to the Human Resources Department, to update the reference to the proper industry standard. The title of the director and associated City committees will also be renamed to reflect this change.
Participation in Taney County Business Development Partnership
A bill was approved on final reading, approving a Letter of Intent and Financial Participation in the Taney County Business Development Partnership which includes an annual commitment of $5,000. This new organization represents various public and private entities in Taney County.
Bid Awards for Water Meter Replacement Program
Bids were approved on final reading, for water meters and installation as part of the Water Meter replacement program. This program is a multi-year phased replacement of commercial water meters due to service age and inaccuracy.
REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS (1st Readings and public hearing)
Amendment to Code regarding Floodplain Management
A public hearing was held and the first reading of a bill was considered amending the Branson Municipal Code regarding floodplain management. This establishes the City of Branson Board of Aldermen as the appeals board to hear and decide appeals and requests for variances within the municipality. This ordinance also adopts the recently updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
2012 Legislative Priorities
Aldermen were asked to approve a resolution adopting the City of Branson 2012 Legislative Agenda, which were drafted by staff after a discussion on the topic at the January 24th Board of Aldermen meeting. The priorities include issues related to tourism promotion, development and local control. These priorities will provide guidance for city staff, the Board, they city’s lobbyist, and our local Legislators, as they advocate on our behalf.
2012 Branson/Lakes Area Legislative Priorities
Aldermen were also asked to approve by resolution the 2012 priorities of the Branson/Lakes Area Legislative Partnership. The Partnership is a coalition of local communities, counties, chambers of commerce, and other public entities in Stone and Taney counties.
