Shriner’s Parade to close some Streets on Saturday

shriners parade route

The Shriners parade is scheduled for Sat. morning, Aug. 25, from 8:30 am to 12 noon, leaving from the Sycamore St. entrance of the south parking lot at the Branson Convention Center. The parade will travel north on Sycamore St. to College St., turn west on College St., north on Commercial St. onto Branson Landing Blvd. The parade will head toward the Lakeside Shoppes at Branson Landing, access the service road and proceed to travel south running parallel with the boardwalk and Lake Taneycomo, ending in the south parking lot of the Branson Convention Center.

City of Branson Police Department officers will be stationed along the parade route for public assistance, specifically providing traffic control at the corners of Sycamore St. and College St.; College St. and Commercial St. as well as Commercial St. and Branson Landing Blvd. The Shrine Provost and Guard will also provide crowd control along the route and assist the Branson Police Department as needed.

Branson Landing Blvd., Main St. (from MO 76 to Branson Landing), Sycamore St. (from Long St. to Oklahoma St.) and Commercial St. (from Veterans Blvd. to Branson Landing) will be closed to normal traffic during the parade. Thousands of residents and visitors alike typically line the parade route to see the Shrine Temples’ entertaining floats and other units as they pass by. The Branson Police Department has developed a traffic control plan to minimize the impact of the parade on businesses along the parade route. The Branson Police Department asks that businesses, if possible, not schedule vendor deliveries or tour-related arrivals at the time of the parade on Sat. morning, unless the businesses have an entrance accessible from a location that is not along the parade route. Employees should also be informed and reminded about the parade date and times.

“This plan was very successful in 2013 when the Shriners held their parade along the same route,” Chief of Police Jeff Matthews. “Our officers did a wonderful job in preparing for the parade, assisting with traffic control during the event, and making the event enjoyable for all involved.”

Chief Matthews encourages businesses to contact the police department with any questions, for information, or to review the traffic control plans. The number is 417-334-3300.

“This time of year is ideal for a big event of this type, and we see the Shiners convention as a real boon for our area,” said Chief Matthews.
